Notice to Hotel Guests and Visitors – Traffic Arrangements on Saturday, July 11, 2026
On Saturday, July 11, 2026, the Finntriathlon 2026 event will take place in the area. As a result, the road between Hotel & Spa Järvisydän and Varkaus will be temporarily closed from approximately 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM during the cycling race. The closed section is part of the cycling course between Tahkoranta Interchange (Exit 43) and Tiemassaari village, returning to Tahkoranta Interchange (Exit 43). See map.
Traffic heading north towards Varkaus will be redirected via Rantasalmi, continuing through Joroinen back to Highway 5. The detour is approximately 21 km (13 miles) long, fully paved, and clearly signposted from the centre of Rantasalmi.
If you are travelling south from Porosalmi, the Finntriathlon event will not affect your journey. Traffic towards the south will operate as normal. This means the arrangement will not affect the traffic from Savonlinna, Mikkel
